IT’S ONE THING TO MAKE SOMEONE LOOK GOOD BUT YOU ALSO NEED TO MAKE THEM HAPPY.

- DR. SCOTT NEWMAN ADVANCED PLASTIC SURGERY & LASER CENTER

Q: As a recognized expert with over 20 years of experience. Tell us more about your background.

A: I owned a Computer Hardware Design company before I was a plastic surgeon. This led to my interest in developing the first 3-D imaging device used by Plastic Surgeons worldwide and perfecting results in cosmetic breast surgery began. For patients interested in many breast procedures, I can simulate the expected results for them quite accurately as part of the consultation!

Q: What do you think are the most important parts of an initial consultation for cosmetic breast surgery?

A: It’s one thing to make someone look good but you also need to make them happy. You must have open communication with patients so they feel comfortable enough to discuss their most sensitive issues. Also, I feel very strongly about two things- Education and Communication. As a result of me doing so many of these procedures, I may offer options that surgeons with more general practices simply don’t offer. It’s also important that a patient is able to tell me exactly what they’re looking for- something that sounds easy but often isn’t. During the consultation, we will go through photographs and even 3-D simulation to be sure we’re both on the same page.

Q: Why do you think your facility is an advantage?

A: The 5000 square-foot facility is accredited by the Joint Commission with state-of-theart equipment in an environment custom-built for Plastic Surgery. The board certified anesthesiologists each has over 20 years’ of experience. The nursing staff consists of only experienced OR, ICU, and Obstetrical nurses. The center is around the corner from the hospital where I am Chief of Plastic Surgery. The facility provides the best and safest care possible for my Long Island, Manhattan, Westchester and Greenwich patients.

Q: Many of you patients include models, celebrities, and politicians. You performed plastic surgery on over 140 doctors and plastic surgeons. Why do they come to you and what sets you apart?

A: There’s nothing more flattering than having other doctors and Plastic Surgeons come to me for their surgery. I am not a magician, but I do have one of the largest Cosmetic Breast Surgery experiences in the country. Many of my colleagues know about my contributions to the specialty and are aware of my experience.

Q: What do you offer for someone who is not quite ready for surgery?

A: For some patients, surgery is the correct and only option and in these cases, I offer patients continued education. My staff will also try to connect the patient with another patient who has already had a similar procedure. This often answers questions differently than I can as the doctor. My office has virtually every existing laser and technology available and now includes Sculpsure for non-surgical fat reduction and Thermi/rfal, both new minimally invasive skin-tightening devices for face and body.
