Barnett, Bulls Rally In 4th

USF Has Won 6 Of Last 7 Vs. Power Five

Blake Barnett threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more to help South Florida come from behind to beat Georgia Tech 49-38 on Saturday at Tampa, Fla.

The Bulls (2-0) rallied from a 10-point fourthquar­ter deficit, drawing within 38-35 on Barnett's 3-yard TD pass to Terrence Horne and taking the lead for good on Barnett's 19yard run with just over five minutes to go.

The graduate transfer who started Alabama's season opener before leaving the Crimson Tide in September 2016 put the game out of reach three minutes later with a 5-yard TD run set up by linebacker Tico Sawtelle's intercepti­on.

Horne also scored on first-quarter kickoff returns of 98 and 97 yards for USF, which has won six of its last seven games against Power Five opponents, including bowl victories over South Carolina and Texas Tech.

ECU 41, North Carolina 19: Freshman quarterbac­k Holton Ahlers ran for two of East Carolina's four rushing touchdowns while Reid Herring threw for another score as the Pirates won at Greenville, N.C. Herring threw for 290 yards while directing a turnover-free performanc­e for ECU (1-1), which was coming off a dispiritin­g home loss to FCS opponent North Carolina A&T.

In other games: Backup quarterbac­k Zach Abey ran for a 3-yard touchdown in a driving rain with 2:37 left, capping a fourth-quarter comeback that enabled Navy to beat error-prone Memphis 22-21 at Annapolis, Md. Navy trailed 21-9 before Malcolm Perry followed the Tigers' third lost fumble with a right-andthen-left, tackle-breaking, 19-yard run with 11:07 remaining. Abey followed with the game-winner, and the Midshipmen held on. ... Houston quarterbac­k D'Eriq King threw for four touchdowns and rushed for one as the Cougars beat Arizona 45-18 at Houston. King finished with 246 passing and 27 rushing yards for Houston (2-0). ... At Philadelph­ia, Tyree Jackson passed for 275 yards and three touchdowns and Kevin Marks ran for 138 yards and two scores to propel Buffalo to a 36-29 victory over Temple. The Owls (0-2) used a 50-yard run by Ryquell Armstead to set up Frank Nutile's 3-yard scoring lob to Branden Mack to pull even at 29 with 4:53 left. ... Adrian Killins Jr. ran for 89 yards and two touchdowns to help No. 19 UCF rout South Carolina State 38-0 at Orlando, Fla., for its 15th straight victory. Killins scored on runs of 3 and 24 yards in the first quarter. ... Michael Warren rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns to help host Cincinnati beat Miami of Ohio 21-0 on Saturday night. Cincinnati won its 13th straight game in the oldest rivalry west of the Allegheny Mountains, using a stout defense.... At New Orleans, Corey Dauphine broke free for two long scoring sprints in the first half and Tulane rolled over Nicholls State 42-17. Dauphine, who finished with 152 yards on six carries, rushed for 107 yards and two scores on just two carries in the first half. ... Sam Ehlinger ran for a touchdown and passed for another in the first half, then threw the gameclinch­ing touchdown in the fourth quarter as Texas slugged its way to a 28-21 win over Tulsa in the Longhorns' home opener. Texas built a 21-0 lead. Tulsa rallied pulled within 21-14 late. Ehlinger completed seven straight passes and ran for a first down before tossing to Tre Watson for an 11-yard score that proved to be the difference. ... At Dallas, KaVontae Turpin ignited sluggish TCU by returning a punt 78 yards for a touchdown before adding a 42-yard scoring catch, and the 16th-ranked Horned Frogs pulled away for a rain-soaked 42-12 victory over Dallas-Fort Worth rival SMU Friday night.
