Attacking DMV Is Too Easy

-

As a Connecticut taxpayer and voter, I felt that it was important to thank you for your editorial in The Courant on Wednesday, “The DMV Isn’t The Problem,” which spoke to the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles and our two candidates for governor.

I agree totally with the thrust of the editorial, that attacking the DMV is both shortsighted and too easy. The attacks by the candidates on the DMV amount to superficial surgery on the larger body of government expenses.

The editorial pointed out the weakness of our two candidates. Finding the easy answer in order to woo voters to their positions ignores the serious nature of the job ahead. Democrat gubernatorial candidate Ned Lamont and Republican candidate Bob Stefanowski, please show us that you are serious, that you are studying the state of our state and that you are up to the task of governing.

I will be watching the upcoming debates and the candidates’ campaign appearances for signs of serious effort and thought.
