Fanning, Ann (Doane)

-

Ann D. Fanning, 79, loving wife of Dennis Fanning, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2021, after a courageous 16-year battle with lymphoma.

Ann was born on June 22, 1941 in Baltimore, MD to the late Kathryn and William Doane. She was raised in Baltimore and went on to attend the University of Maine prior to starting her family. Ann was a caring woman who loved to help others. She spent many years volunteering in Manchester schools as she raised her children, and spent her working years in the neonatal unit at Hartford Hospital and as a teacher's aide working with disabled children in Fairfield County. Ann loved bird watching, reading, writing poetry, and most of all her family and friends. She was warm and welcoming to all who met her. To know her was to love her.

In addition to her beloved husband Dennis, Ann is survived by her four children, Joe Tanguay and his wife Janet of Willington, CT, Paul Tanguay and his life partner Tracy Stevenson of Plymouth, VT, Suzanne Tanguay of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Marc Tanguay and his wife Bitsy of Plymouth, VT, her two stepsons (whom she always considered her own) Pat Fanning and his wife Julia of Rocky Hill, CT and Tim Fanning and his wife Sarah of Plantsville, CT; her grandchildren Michael Tanguay and his wife Heather Nickerson, Jaclyn Tanguay and her fiancé Desmond Boxley, Avery Fanning, Owen Fanning, and Lyllian Fanning; her great-grandchildren Alicia Landrie and Henry Tanguay; brother Joe Doane and his wife Pat and sister-in-law Susan Doane of Maryland; her special nieces and nephews; her BFF Pauline Jones; and her son Paul's extended family. In addition to her parents, Ann was pre-deceased by her brother, Bill Doane.

A special thanks to the doctors at Dana Farber who gave Ann more years of life than we ever thought possible, and to Dr. Albert and nurses Michaelle and Lauri of Hospice who comforted her during her final battle.

There are no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann's memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston MA 02284 or to Hartford Healthcare at Home, 1290 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield CT 06109.
