Gurne, Robert B

Robert (Bob) Gurne of Sun City, AZ passed away peacefully February 16, 2021. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Esther (Freeman) Gurne. Bob grew up in West Hartford graduating from Wm. Hall High School and the University of Connecticut where he met his life's love, Alice (Kramer). He was a member of the Connecticut Air National Guard, serving during the Korean conflict. Upon leaving the service, Bob went on to earn an MBA from New York University and became a certified public accountant. He was a partner for over 20 years in the firm of Sigal, Trager & Gurne. In 1980 together with Stuart Kaufman and Stephen Osit, Bob co-founded Gurne, Kaufman & Osit, PC CPA's where he continued to practice until retiring. Bob and Alice relocated to Sun City West and later Sun City, AZ enjoying sunshine, citrus, and extensive travel. An avid reader of biographies, he loved chocolate, swiss cheese, hot dogs and baseball, especially the New York Yankees. Mostly though, Bob's greatest joy was spending time with family and numerous friends. Bob is survived by Alice, his wife of 65 years, his sister Eleanor Weinberg Jainchill of Bloomfield, CT, two sons, Stephen of Greenbrae, CA and David and his wife Lynn (Mavrek) Gurne and granddaughter Hannah Gurne of Flagstaff, AZ, also many beloved nieces & nephews. Graveside funeral service and burial are planned for Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob's remembrance may be sent to Temple Beth Sholom, 12202 N 101ST Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351 or a charity of donor's choice.
