Marie (Bellantuono) Jakubowski, 91, of Kensington, widow of the late Bronislaw “Ben” Jakubowski, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Marie was born on April 1, 1929 in New Britain and was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (DiPinto) Bellantuano. Marie is survived by her son Dennis and his wife Nancy of Wallingford, her son Ronald and his wife Aurora of New Britain, and her daughter MaryJane Lam and her husband Gary of Burlington; six grandchildren and spouses- Benjamin and Stacey, Jason and Sarah, Nicholas and Connie, and Sarah Jakubowski; Michael and Keri, and Jonathan and Jennifer Lam. In addition, Marie leaves 10 great-grandchildren: Alex, Maddie, Katie Marie, Kevin, Elizabeth, Nathan, Emma, Joey, Nora and Myra. She also leaves her brother Jack Bellantuano and her sister Josephine Lanza and many special nieces and nephews. Marie was pre-deceased by her sister Lucy Villano and two brothers, Vincent Bellantuono and Anthony Bellantuano and by a special cousin Lucy Tanasi.

Marie was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family was her life and just hearing about the progress and achievements of her grand and great grandkids sustained her these past few years. She was so proud of all of them. Marie was an outgoing person who would know your life story if you sat next to her on a bus ride to the Casino. And you would know hers too. She was a stay at home Mom for several years and entered the work force after her children were grown. She worked as a Sales Correspondent for the Fafnir Bearing Company in New Britain. After retirement, she and her husband spent parts of 25 years in a home they owned in Margate Florida. She loved to dance and, with Ben, was a member of the Bucks and Does Square Dancing Club. They were a dazzling couple on the dance floor and the stars of every family wedding. Marie also loved to sing and was a member of many local and Florida singing groups. She was a lively, outgoing person who loved playing games, going to the casino or just chatting with friends and relatives. But her greatest love was for her husband Ben, to whom she was married for 70 years. Their love was deep and an example for all they leave behind.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of the Arbor Rose Gardens Unit and the healthcare staff of East 1 and East 2 at Jerome Home for giving her a peaceful six months in their care. They are extraordinary. In addition, a huge thank you to the Hospice Staff from Hartford Health Care who helped make her end journey so memorable.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that all donations go to Foodshare in Marie's name.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, all services will be private. A Mass in her memory will be announced by her family at a later date. The New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, Ct 06053 has been entrusted with Marie's services. To leave an online condolence, please visit www. newbritainsagarino.com.
