Muenchow, Robert R., Jr.
Robert R. Muenchow Jr., 69, passed away on March 15th, 2021, at MidState Medical Center unexpectedly. Born on March 23, 1951 in Meriden, CT, Bob was a lifelong Meriden resident. He was the son of the late Robert Muenchow Sr. and Louise (Ambrosette) Muenchow. Bob was a 1969 graduate of Maloney High School, and he had earned an Associates Degree in Marketing and Business Administration from Tunxis-Community College. Prior to Bob's retirement, he worked many years for the City of Meriden in the Water Department. After his retirement, Bob was a dedicated volunteer for many years at The Friends of the Meriden Library Bookstore organization, where he received the 2014 Friend of the Year Award. Bob truly loved living in Meriden. Being very civic minded, he annually volunteered at any and every election poll. Bob was an avid sports and trivia fan, and among his passions were boxing, baseball, and particularly the New York Yankees. He enjoyed long walks throughout Meriden and on the Quinnipiac River Gorge Trail with his late nephew, Andrew Laude. Bob had also traveled extensively with friends around the world, where his adventures ranged from African safaris, Europe, Russia, China, the Caribbean, Mexico, the Canadian Rockies, Alaska, and most of the American National Parks many times over. Bob also spoke often about his fondness for the city of New Orleans and his multiple trips there with family. Bob also enjoyed investing in and following financial markets. In his spare time, Bob also enjoyed international cuisines and taking in a wide array of concerts, musicals, and dances, and especially oldies and classic rock. His love for nostalgia also included classic movies, musicals, and golden age television, Westerns and radio. Ultimately, Bob was always a generous and kind person who loved taking care of everyone.
Bob is survived by his sisters, Lisa (Gary) Laude and Cynthia Lavariere, and his two brothers, Raymond Muenchow and Ronald (Linda) Muenchow. Bob is also survived by his nieces, Taylor Muenchow and Wendy Muenchow, and his nephews, Jeffrey Laude, Richard Lavariere, and Grant Muenchow. Bob was also predeceased by his beloved nephew, Andrew Laude. He also leaves behind his favorite walking dog, Herschel.
Bob's family will receive relatives and friends at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St, Meriden, on Monday, March 22nd from 4 to 7 PM. Burial will be private.
