George Paul Drenga of Falls Rd., Moodus, passed away at Middlesex Hospital on March 24, 2021, with loving family members at his side. George was born on January 25, 1934 in Middletown to Caroline (Spiwak) and John Drenga. He was predecease­d by brothers Steven Drenga, Roger Drenga, Joseph Drenga, George Drenga I, and sister Cecelia Drenga Bloch. George was a graduate of Nathan Hale-Ray High School in the Class of 1953, the last class to hold graduation at the old Moodus Theater, where he worked part time. George went on to Hillyer College, University of Hartford, where he studied Accounting and Business. Upon graduating, he worked as an accountant at Undine Internatio­nal in Moodus. When that business closed, he went on to work at Moodus Savings Bank, which is currently Liberty Bank. He went on to become Vice-President/Treasurer of the bank and retired in 1997. George leaves many loving friends as well as nieces and nephews, Patricia Davey of Dennis, MA., Carol Drenga of Moodus, Nancy Drenga Phaneuf and Bill of East Haddam, Thomas Bloch of Moodus, Roger Drenga of East Haddam, Joan Drenga Welch and Dennis of Essex, Joseph and Mary Drenga of Norwich, Christina Drenga of East Hartford, Rita Drenga Smith and Everett of Napersvill­e, IL., Maria Drenga of South Windsor, and John and Jill Drenga of South Windsor. George will be lovingly remembered for his kind and generous nature and his love of taking rides in his Jeep, dining out, the beach, and his many trips to Cape Cod, which he called his second home. He was an avid Antiquaria­n, Museum Director at the East Haddam Historical Society which he co-founded in 1963, and a faithful monitor at East Haddam voting sites. His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, (March 31st) at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget of Kildare Church, 75 Moodus Leesville Rd., Moodus. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery.
