Gill, Margaret B. (O'Keefe)
Margaret B. (O'Keefe) Gill passed away on March 30, 2021, in Addison Place, Glastonbury, at the age of 99. She was born December 22, 1921 to George E. and Florence (Miller) O'Keefe of the Thompsonville section of Enfield, CT and was raised there. She was also a former resident of Wethersfield for many years.
Margaret (Peg) was predeceased by her husband Francis, who passed in 2004. She was a pediatric nurse and was employed by Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC for many years. Later in life, she wrote several children's books and donated the Royalties to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. She also served as a volunteer on several committees for St. Jude's and traveled there frequently.
Peg was a “shopper” and loved to visit NYC to shop, as well as local stores and tag sales. Being proud of her Irish heritage, she and Frank traveled to Ireland several times. She enjoyed telling stories of their experiences there.
She was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield, CT, and was a lifelong devout Catholic. She is survived by a son and Daughter in law, William and Patricia Watrous of South Carolina, her grandchildren Stacey Jackson and her husband, Rob of Holden MA, David Watrous of Rocky Hill, and two great grandchildren, Megan and Allison Jackson. She also leaves behind her devoted Godchild, Patricia Packard, a close cousin, Patricia Harrison, and special friends of the Fitzgerald and Packard families in CT.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Addison Place, Glastonbury, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2021, 11:00 am at Corpus Christi Church (Christ The King Parish) 601 Silas Deane Hwy. Wethersfield, CT 06109. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Visiting hours will be Tuesday before the Mass, 9:30 am to 10:30 am, at the Dillon Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpk. Wethersfield
