David M. Long, 55, of Manchester, loving son, brother and uncle passed away peacefully on Friday, April 2, 2021 after an extended illness. David was born on August 27, 1965 in Hartford son of the late Joseph G. Long and Joan (Shay) Shuttlewor­th of Manchester. He was raised in Manchester CT. attended local schools and was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1984. Prior to his illness, Dave was a machinist at Hamilton Standard for many years. He also worked at Projects in Glastonbur­y, CT.

David was an avid NASCAR fan as well as a life long Atlanta Braves and Dolphins fan. David was proud to be part of CT. Greyhound Adoption Agency and loved his dog Beau. David was a very gentle soul and his feelings ran deep for his family and those close to him.

In addition to his mother Joan, he is survived by his stepfather Richmond Shuttlewor­th, his brother Jeffrey Long and his wife Noreen of Hebron, his sister Tami Elliott and her husband Scott of South Windsor. David also leaves his nieces Jordan, Morghan, Stephanie & Mackenzie. He was very loved and will be missed dearly by his family.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road in South Windsor on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 5-7 pm. Burial will be private in East Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributi­ons may be made to The National Kidney Foundation or the (JDRF) Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
