Hartford - Mark A. Peterson, 80, of South Windsor and Old Lyme, CT, loving husband of 61 years to Nancy Lynn Peterson passed away April 9th after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Mark was born on August 13, 1940, son of the late Mark H. and Beatrice Petrosky Peterson. He is survived by the only love of his life Nancy and their children; Laurie von Schmidt, Kurt Peterson (Debby), and Andrew Peterson (Laura); his beloved grandchild­ren Alissa Savage-Paul (Chris), Tara von Schmidt, Brooke and Paige Peterson, and Matthew and Samuel Peterson; and his three great grandchild­ren Alexandria and Ariana Savage and Finn Paul. He also leaves behind his sister Sylvia Peterson.

He attended Manchester schools graduating in 1958 from Manchester High School and University of Hartford with a BS degree in accounting. He had a diversifie­d career with several area companies including Arthur Andersen and Arbor Acres. The highlight of his career was when he and Nancy spent three years in Paris while working for Stanley Home Products. Mark dedicated much of his time to state and local politics serving as Town of South Windsor Republican Town Committee Treasurer and a member of WPCA. He was recently honored by MARCH Inc. for 33 years of service. Mark enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family at the cottage at Point O' Woods Beach where many lifelong friendship­s were forged over 47 summers. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons can be made in Mark's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or Adaptive Sports at Mount Snow Inc.
