Ronald Duncan McEvoy, 86, of Granby CT passed peacefully on April 8, 2021 in the company of his loving wife and children. Born on January 12, 1935 in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ethel Stuart McEvoy. Being an only child, Ron was a devoted son and cherished his relationships with his aunt, uncle and cousins. Ronald is survived by his wife, Caroline Kutzner McEvoy, two children, Karen McEvoy Pineau and husband Michael of Simsbury, CT; and David McEvoy and wife Maria of Manchester, CT. Ron adored and was extremely proud of his five grandsons: Samuel McEvoy, Matthew Pineau, Adam McEvoy, Benjamin McEvoy and Douglas Pineau. Ron graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1957 with a BS degree in accounting. He served six years in the army reserves. During his career, he worked as a corporate credit manager for Anaconda American Brass in Waterbury and later for several other manufacturing companies before retirement. Ron and Caroline married in 1960 and lived in Woodbury, CT for more than 40 years where they raised their two children. Ron served on the Woodbury Board of Education and the Vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he developed lifelong friendships. They enjoyed spending summers at Point ‘O Woods with their children, grandchildren, and friends. Some of his favorite pastimes included sailing, gardening, and reading, especially U.S. history, war stories and spy novels. He loved dogs, having a special affinity for golden retrievers, and enjoyed watching the birds at his feeder. In 2007 the couple moved to Granby. Ron loved the town, his neighbors, valued the friendships he made at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tariffville, and enjoyed living closer to his lifelong friend Dick O'Donnell. Ron was outgoing and gregarious, a people person with a gift of gab. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, 8448418 103 Vision Way, Bloomfield, CT 06002 or Yankee Golden Rescue, 110 Chapin Rd, Hudson, MA 01749.
