Elvgren, Anne

Anne Elvgren of Farmington, passed unexpectedly and peacefully on April 2, 2021. Formerly from St. Paul Minnesota and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Anne was preceded in death by her father Graham Elvgren, mother Margy Elvgren, and beloved brother, Alex Elvgren. She is survived by her sister, Joan Carlson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and her two nephews, Michael and Stephen. Anne lived an exemplary life, and her relationships with family, friends, community and related professional endeavors were her greatest joy and accomplishment. Anne epitomized the genuine friendliness and niceness of her hometown of St. Paul. She was an outstanding community leader and volunteer, making a remarkable impact on the places and the people in her sphere of influence. Anne devoted her skilled marketing and management experience to building the reputation and success of prominent businesses and nonprofits. She served for eleven years as the Chief Marketing Officer at Blum, Shapiro & Co., P. C. Following that, Anne was the Chief Marketing Officer at Robinson & Cole LLP. Anne's career also included roles as lead marketer at two preeminent architectural practices and as senior manager in a major community nonprofit. Anne was a valued member of the Metro Hartford Alliance and the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA). She also served as a member of the Legal Marketing Association and the Association for Accounting Marketing, where she was on the national board of directors. Anne served as Board member at the Mark Twain House for many years. She was also a Trustee of the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame and co-chair of its Governance & Nominating Committee; an appointed member of the State of Connecticut's Culture and Tourism Advisory Committee; an Overseer of The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts and longtime member of its Marketing Committee; a corporator of The iQuilt Partnership; a member and former director of the Connecticut Women's Council; a former committee member of the Travelers Championship Women's Day Committee; and former member of the gala committee of The Children's Law Center. Anne was also a proud member of the International Women's Forum of Connecticut. She was selected by the Hartford Business Journal as a Remarkable Woman in Business. Perhaps most touching and important, Anne was a wonderful and genuine friend. She went the distance to support, encourage, inspire and foster the advancement and well-being of her friends. Therefore, Anne leaves a very big family of friends as well as her sister Joan to grieve her departure. She is missed more than words can say. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date this spring.
