Stephen Goldthwaite, 67, of Springfield passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, surrounded by his family at Manchester Hospital after a sudden illness. Stephen, son of the late Henry and Dorothy (Keenan) Goldthwaite, was born in Springfield on December 4, 1953. Raised in Springfield, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School, earned his bachelor's degree from Western New England University, and his master's degree from American International College. Stephen was the proud founder of Eyes on America LLC, a video surveillance solutions company. He had an extraordinary way of bringing people together, from trips with friends and family to his passion of organizing reunion events for his Cathedral High School class of 1971 and was currently planning their 50th reunion later this year. Stephen was very involved in activities with his sons, being a Boy Scout leader and little league coach. He bartended for years at Sun Valley in Stafford, CT, and more recently for the Irish Cultural Center in West Springfield. This was a perfect outlet for him because he loved telling a good joke as much as hearing one. Eternally optimistic and always smiling, he made friends wherever he went. He loved boating, motorcycling, going to Hartford Wolf Pack and Yard Goats games, and traveling to places such as New Hampshire, Disney World, Vero Beach, and Hawaii, among others. He was a member of the Disney Vacation Club and the Irish Cultural Center. Above all, he was very family and friend oriented. Stephen will be greatly missed by all who knew him, his loving wife Jacqueline (Tucker) Goldthwaite, his children Sean Goldthwaite of New York City, Daniel Goldthwaite and his girlfriend Erin Payne of Manchester, CT, and Kevin Goldthwaite and his wife Mari of Denver, CO, his sister Donna Goldthwaite of Springfield, MA, and his beloved granddaughter Evelyn Ku'ulei Goldthwaite of Denver, his close lifelong friends Thomas and Diane Dufault, Geoff Gregor, Steve and Virginia Downie, Justin and Karen Nealon, Mel and Joyce O'Leary, uncles, aunts, and cousins, ICC and SV families, and many, many others who meant so much to Steve. He embodied the saying, “Make new friends but keep the old.” Visiting Hours for Stephen will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 from 4PM to 7PM at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 10AM in St. Catherine's Church, 1023 Parker Street, Springfield. Private interment will be on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Hillcrest Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held on August 21 at the ICC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Irish Cultural Center, 429 Morgan Rd, West Springfield, and Shriner's Children's Hospital, 516 Carew St, Springfield, or a charity of your choice.
