Clinton, Beatrice L. (Lyons)

Beatrice "Betty" Lyons Clinton passed away peacefully at age 99 on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Canton, GA. Born in Keene, N.H., daughter of the late Jeanette

and John Lyons, the family moved to Hartford where she grew up and graduated from Hartford Public High School. In 1944, she married Lawrence "Larry" Clinton, and they raised their family in Rocky Hill. During that time, Betty participated in community life as a member of the Wethersfield Art League and Welcome Wagon. She also taught yoga and maintained a realtor's license for several years. Betty and Larry enjoyed an active social life for many years dancing with the Wethersfield Square Dance Club, and upon retirement, continued their interests while wintering in Florida. Betty was a wonderful, caring, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always put family first.

Betty was pre-deceased by Larry, her husband of 58 years, son Stacey Clinton, and brother John Lyons. She is survived by her sister, Elaine Daly, and children Bruce (Susan) Clinton and Marianne Torchia (fiance Ed Bookland), grandchildren Melissa Clinton Wheelahan (Dennis Zimmerman), Matthew (Kaitlin) Clinton, Thomas (Victoria) Clinton, Jason (Sonya) Torchia, Brian Torchia, Lisa (Bruce) Whitten as well as ten great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Wickshire Canton and Agape Hospice for their wonderful care of Betty for the past six years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Christ the King Parish (Corpus Christi Church) 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Following the Mass, burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
