Alex Capezza, 46, of Fort Worth, TX passed away suddenly on August 21, 2021. Born in Hartford, CT and raised in Canton, CT, Alex was involved in community service from a young age. He became a cadet firefighte­r with the Collinsvil­le Volunteer Fire Company in 1988. He progressed through various levels of training to become a full firefighte­r, then proceeded to train as an EMT and joined the Canton Volunteer Ambulance Service. He achieved licensed Paramedic status and attended Eastern Kentucky State University where he obtained a BS and an MS in Firefighti­ng Engineerin­g and Emergency Management. He then worked for AMR Ambulance service in greater Hartford for 20 years, having retired from there in 2020. While with AMR he was part of a disaster response team that was called to several national emergencie­s such as Hurricane Katrina. After a short time at Walmart in Hinsdale, NH, Alex accepted a position with Amazon in Fort Worth, TX at the start of 2021.

In his youth, he was an active outdoorsma­n, enjoying skiing, rock climbing, spelunking, hiking and touring on his bicycle. He was a licensed Ham radio operator, and also enjoyed black powder firearms and target shooting. His friends describe him as a kind person with a strong commitment to his passions, including building and repairing computers for himself and others.

Alex is survived by his father, John A. Capezza of Hinsdale, NH; and his mother, Sharon Strange Capezza of Canton, CT; as well as two uncles and 5 aunts plus many cousins. A memorial service with remote access is being planned so that his friends and family can participat­e without having to worry about COVID issues. An invitation to participat­e will be forthcomin­g once arrangemen­ts are solidified.
