Albert M. Palm, 88, lifetime resident of Westbrook, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Arlene (Shearer) Palm for 56 wonderful years.

He was born on March 11, 1932, in Westbrook, to the late Albert C. and Evelyn (Sheagren) Palm.

Albert, referred to as Sonny by all that knew him, became a Westbrook Fireman in 1949. He spent over 25 years as a Tree Surgeon for Asplundh Tree Service before retiring in 1995. During his retirement he enjoyed helping others. He loved being a part of the Westbrook community whether it be at the Fire house or cutting limbs/trees down or anything anyone needed help with. If you asked, Sonny would be there. He was known by all who knew him as a wonderful amazing, great, sweet, and special man with kind eyes and heart. Sonny was married to the love of his life Arlene, until her passing in June of 2017. They enjoyed dancing, roller skating, volunteeri­ng at the annual Fire dept. carnival game booth, going to CT state fairs, traveling, and listening to all types of music. His greatest joy, besides spending time with his wife was spending time with his children, grandchild­ren, and great-grandchild­ren. He adored his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Darlene Spencer and her partner Ben of Brooklyn, NY, Karin Coburn and her husband Bert of Waterford, CT; sister, Audrey Ward of Westbrook, CT; brother, Elton Palm and Judy of Westbrook, CT; grandchild­ren, Steven, James and Robert Spencer of NY, Melissa Hayes of CA, James Hayes of CT; great-grandchild­ren, Paige and Kira Spencer of NY, Brennan Lunin of CA and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Besides his wife Arlene, he was predecease­d by his son Raymond A. Palm, daughter Dorothy M. Sheridan and his eldest sister Aline Gonzalez.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 10 a.m. at First Congregati­onal Church, 1166 Boston Post Rd., Westbrook, CT. Burial will follow at Cypress Hill Cemetery, 321 Essex Rd., Westbrook, CT. Cremation Society of Connecticu­t in Windsor is caring for the arrangemen­ts.
