Eleanor Clark Swanson, 93, of Farmington, widow of Donald Swanson, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 21st, 2021. Eleanor was born October 1, 1927 in Springfiel­d, VT daughter of the late Lauren and Charlotte Clark. She was the 7th of nine children. She attended Becker College in Worcester, MA. It was there that she met her husband Donald who was attending college at Worcester Polytechni­c Institute. They were married in September 1949 and celebrated 62 years together until his death in 2011.

Eleanor worked for the Farmington Board of Education as Secretary of Union School for 19 years. She served as a Girl Scout leader, head of the PTO, was a driver for the elderly, the Annual Library Book Sale, and was President of the Republican Women’s Club for several years. Eleanor was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church serving on the Memorial Committee and Social Ministry.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Linda (Lloyd) Malin of Johns Island, SC, her son, Drew (Bahige) Swanson of Brookfield, four grandchild­ren, Lauren (Blade) Hovekamp, Laura (Morgan) Swanson, Paul Swanson, Benjamin Malin and two great-granddaugh­ters,

Savannah and Waverly Hovekamp. She was predecease­d by her sisters, Elizabeth, Doris and Evelyn and her brothers, Luther, Robert and Norman.

Funeral Services will be held Friday (Oct. 8) at 10:00am

in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 224 Lovely St., Avon. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n, CT Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd S, #4b, Southingto­n, CT 06489. Arrangemen­ts are
