De la Vega, Kimberly (Griffith)

- Please sign guestbook at courant.com/obituaries

Kimberly Griffith de la Vega born in Idaho Falls, ID December 21, 1961, passed unexpectedly on October

12, 2021 at the age of 59.

Kim was an amazingly kind, generous and compassionate person who always would lend a hand to anyone

in need. She was the type of person who just wanted to help. She was deeply sensitive and empathetic and wore her heart on her sleeve. She'd pick up little trinkets when she saw something just because she was thinking of you and thought “this is just perfect for you”. She never had an unkind word for anyone. As

mom would say, “if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all”. She was strong and courageous and tackled many obstacles in her life holding her head high. She was beautiful.

She was born the first child of father RADM Dwaine Griffith and mother Barbara Jacobs Griffith while they were stationed in Idaho. As a Navy family they would move many times throughout her life including South Carolina where her brother Dwaine was born, Connecticut where sister Cynthia was born, Spain, back to South Carolina, and Virginia. She even changed high schools 3 of her 4 years! She went on to live in New York and then settled again back in Connecticut. She purchased her home in Canton and lived there until her passing.

She loved her son and her family fiercely. Her world revolved around them.

She is survived by her son, Drew de la Vega, mother

Barbara Griffith Arthur, brother Dwaine Griffith, sister Cynthia Magner and husband Peter, her nieces, Anna and Mackenzie and nephews Matthew and Cameron.

She will be forever loved and missed.

In lieu of flowers, please reach out to strangers and loved ones alike to lend a helping hand just as she would have. If you'd like to make a donation in her name, please consider your local Humane Society to honor her love of animals. The Vincent Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements. Please visit Kimberly's Book of Memories at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for
