Jimmie Lee Hill, loving and devoted husband of 57 years to the late Hannah Hill, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital. Jimmie, 82, and resident of Hartford, was born in Quincy, FL, on October 28, 1938 to the late Mack Lee (“M.L.”) Hill Sr. and Alice (Stevens) Hill. Jimmie was very young when

his biological mother passed away but his father married another beautiful-spirited lady, Elma (Holt) Hill, who raised Jimmie and his brothers as if they were her own. Jimmie is a graduate of Carter-Paramore High School of Quincy, FL, where he first met Hannah. He also held a Bachelor of Science from Florida A & M University (FAMU) of Tallahasse­e, FL, a Master of Education and Sixth-Year Certificat­e

from the University of Hartford. At FAMU, Jimmie entered the ROTC and in 1967, he was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army as a Captain after serving in Vietnam. Also in 1967, Jimmie and his young family

moved to Hartford where he began his 32-year career at the City of Hartford. It started with him taking a position as a Mathematic­s Teacher at Northwest Jones

but he also served the City as a Guidance Counselor, Vice Principal, Principal and summers at Parks & Recreation. On July 1, 1999, Jimmie retired from the City as the Math Chairperso­n. Before and during his retirement, Jimmie and his loving wife, Hannah, who proceeded him in death on July 2nd of this year, spent quality time together. A devout Christian, Jimmie accepted Christ at New Bethel A.M.E Church in Quincy, FL. After moving to Hartford, he became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where he and Hannah were members of the Flower Club Ministry. Throughout the years and during retirement, Jimmie and Hannah traveled extensivel­y to spend time with one another, family and friends. They also loved working in their yard, cultivatin­g beautiful flowers. Jimmie enjoyed bowling, watching sports (live and on television), eating delicious Soul food (especially desserts), and relaxing in his recliner chair. Most importantl­y, Jimmie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his adoring grandchild­ren and those precious great-grandchild­ren. Jimmie will always be remembered as a man that cared deeply about his family, a hard-worker, and being an excellent provider. He leaves to mourn his passing and to carry on his legacy: a son, Patrick W. Hill and his wife Rosa of Rocky Hill; a daughter, Priscilla A. Hill of East Hartford; his daughter in love, Cheryl Miller of Windsor; four grandchild­ren, Ashley Hill of Windsor, LaKeisha Murphy of East Hartford, Jalen Hill of Windsor, and Kiana Hill of Hartford; four great-grandchild­ren, A'Miya and Chase Moreland, Jahilynn Hill, and Rylynn Thompson; a dear nephew, Marzell Hill, of Quincy, FL and; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Jimmie was predecease­d by two brothers: his twin, Simmie Lee Hill, Mack Lee Hill Jr. His family will receive friends on Thursday, October 21, 10-11 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 11 a.m., at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor, CT. Burial will follow in the Connecticu­t State Veterans

Cemetery, Middletown, CT with Military Honors. Repast will follow at The Lodge Community Chapel. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the charity of your choice.
