Robert William Garbe, Jr. died at West Florida Hospital, Pensacola Florida, on September 5, 2021, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven. Bob was 71 years old and faced his 2018 diagnosis of frontotemp­oral dementia with bravery, grace, and the help of his beloved wife of 48 years, Jean Ek Garbe.

Bob was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvan­ia on February 16, 1950 to Robert and Diane Garbe. The family moved to Old Saybrook, Connecticu­t when Bob was in high school. He spent most of his working life in the utility industry, starting as a meter reader in 1973 for the Connecticu­t Light and Power Company, Essex, Connecticu­t. He received his MBA from University of New Haven. He retired from his position as Operations Business Manager for NRG Energy Company, Middletown, Connecticu­t in 2005. Bob was an avid traveler, car enthusiast, musician and cat lover.

Bob and Jean were involved in a number of charities: New Hope, Waterfront Mission, Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Shriners, Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, Compassion Internatio­nal and Carpenter's Hand Mission.

In addition to his wife Jean, Bob is survived by his uncle Curt Snodgrass, (Ro Lebedow), brother Carl Garbe (Joan Strickland), sister Sharon Garbe (David Blumel), nieces India Monroe (Kyle), Brooke Lopedota (James), Karla Girardi (Anthony), nephews Ian Garbe, Max Monroe, Niels Blumel, great-niece Ava Garbe and great nephews Anthony, Jr. and Lucas Girardi. Bob was predecease­d by his parents and sister, Chris Garbe.

Bob will be remembered by his family and friends for

his kindness and generosity.
