Dolores Joan (Carangelo) Gracie, 86, of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away on October 9, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, with her devoted and

loving companion Frank Cusumano by her side. Dolores was born November 15, 1934, in Hartford, CT, the only child of the late Anthony and Anne [Stanio] Carangelo. Dolores was a long-time resident of Newington before moving to Pompano Beach over twenty years ago. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Henry Church of Pompano Beach.

Dolores was a devoted and loving mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r and friend. She will always be remembered for her generosity, bringing her family together for delicious Sunday meals and her mesmerizin­g back scratches. She enjoyed traveling, visiting many places around the world. Dolores was employed by the State of Connecticu­t Comptrolle­r's Office where she retired over thirty years ago. For most of her life, Dolores was an avid Bridge player and competed in many tournament­s around the world reaching the rank of Emerald Life Master.

Dolores is survived by her son Stephen Bacon (Janet), daughter Cheryl Doherty (Robert), son Kevin Bacon, and son Christophe­r Bacon (Christine), grandchild­ren Kevin, Paul, Stephen, Stephanie, Nicholas, Michael, Tyler and

Matthew and three great-grandchild­ren, Skyler, Samuel and Kai. She is predecease­d by her parents and her husband Norman Gracie

We are deeply appreciati­ve of Frank's love and care of our mother throughout the years. We also thank aides Jean, Marina, Laverne, and Stacy for their compassion­ate care over the past year.

A Memorial Mass will be held on October 28, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, CT. Burial will be private. Donations may be made in her honor to: The Alzheimer's Associatio­n, www.alz.org.
