Leonard A. Cipollone, Jr., 77, of Meriden and formerly of Southbury and Narraganse­tt, Rhode Island passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of Madeline (Wilkins) Cipollone for 58 years.

He was born March 29, 1945 in Waterbury, the son of the late Leonard A. and Flora (Sopelsa) Cipollone, Sr.

Len was a Veteran of the Vietnam War proudly serving with the U.S. Marine Corp. He was the Director of Support Services at Southbury Training Center until his retirement.

Prior to his retirement from Southbury Training School, Len was an active member of the community serving on the Southbury volunteer fire department as an EMT and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Upon his retirement, Len and Madeline moved to Narraganse­tt, Rhode Island where he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Len and Madeline were able to spend summers in their dream home that they built from the ground up with the help of their family and friends. For over twenty years they spent summers in Narraganse­tt with their children and grandchild­ren enjoying all that the town had to offer. They wintered in Bonita Springs, Florida where Len served in various roles on the board of directors for Spring Creek Village. In addition to his wife, Len leaves his son, Leonard A. Cipollone III and wife Michelle of Meriden; three grandsons, Nicholas, Matthew and Michael; two brothers, Paul Cipollone and wife Susan of Southingto­n and Larry Cipollone and wife Lori of Cheshire; a sister Linda O'Neil and husband Raymond of Southingto­n; brother in-law and sister-in law Bruce and Sandy Tarro of North Port Fl.; sister in- law Charlotte Henlin of Bonita Springs Fl. and several nieces and nephews. He is predecease­d by his son William Cipollone.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecch­ia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southingto­n to Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsvill­e for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
