Patricia L. "Penny" (Carey) Carroll of Simsbury, CT, passed away peacefully at Arden Court of Avon on March 6, 2023, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John E. Carroll and her parents, Harry A. Carey and Winifred Carey of White Plains, NY. - where she grew up and met John.

Penny was the loving mother of Deborah Kaechele, John B. Carroll and Diane Ozmun; and Gramma to Allyson and Mackenzie Kaechele, Benjamin and Elizabeth Carroll and Carey Ozmun. She was mother-in-law to Bruce Kaechele, Julie Carroll and Chris Ozmun.

Penny loved spending time with her family – especially on the beaches and waves of Block Island, near the Christmas tree, and around any holiday table.

She had a passion for musical theater and appeared on stage with her friends in many of The Simsbury Theater Guild productions.

Penny had a strong faith in God and found comfort and spiritual inspiration at Simsbury United Methodist Church and shared her faith with friends and family. Penny sold advertising for many years for The Farmington Valley Herald, was an underwriter for Chubb Insurance and was a loving and dedicated companion to her clients through Companions & Homemakers of Avon.

She was also an active volunteer in her community as a member of the Junior Women's Club, President of Simsbury Theatre Guild, and a volunteer at Simsbury United Methodist Church to welcome new members. The Town of Simsbury honored Penny in 1988 with the Hometown Hero award for “her quiet, effective dedication to the improvement of the Town's culture.”

Penny had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to laugh, loved her friends, and will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary donation in Penny's honor to the Alzheimer's Association (alz. org). The Alzheimer's Association was a valuable resource for our family as we navigated the challenging journey of Alzheimer's with Penny.

A private funeral service will be held at Simsbury United Methodist Church followed by her burial in the SUMC Memorial Garden. The family will hold a celebration of life gathering on May 14, 2023 for family and friends. Donations of prayer shawls, and comfort blankets or quilts to Arden Court of Avon would be greatly appreciated.

We are grateful for the team of professional, dedicated and loving caregivers at Arden Court of Avon. Their compassion, integrity and support to our family was more than we could have ever imagined.

Please visit Penny's Book of Memories at www.vincent funeralhome.com for online tributes.
