Bourbeau, M. Jessie (LaBrie)

-

M. Jessie (LaBrie) Bourbeau, 84, of Bloomfield, beloved wife to the late Ernest A. Bourbeau, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 with her family by her side. Jessie was born on August 3, 1938, in Hartford, to Leo and Clara (Richard) LaBrie.

Jessie grew up in Hartford before moving to Bloomfield at a young age. She attended St. Francis School of Nursing and earned her R.N. license shortly after. She was employed as a Nursing Supervisor for the Hebrew Home & Hospital for many years before her retirement in 1999. Jessie was a devout Roman Catholic and was very active in the church prior to COVID. She had an amazing green thumb and loved sharing her seeds and cuttings from her beautiful gardens. Her favorite things included being by the ocean, walking the beach collecting shells and eating fried clams. She loved her family dearly. She adored animals of all kinds and rescued many in her life, including dogs, cats, ducks, squirrels and even a racoon! She had a huge heart and always thought of others before herself, saving clippings from the paper or things she knew someone would appreciate or learn from. Jessie had a feisty spirit up until her final days and was always sure to let everyone know who was in charge!

Jessie is survived by her three children, Marc Bourbeau (Christine) of Bloomfield, Denise MacKinnon (John) of East Granby and Steven Bourbeau (Ann) of Enfield; her three grandchildren who referred to her as "Grams", Heather and Lauren MacKinnon and Christian Torres; her brother, Richard LaBrie of Enfield; her sister, Clare Mangan (Larry) of South Windsor as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, wonderful friends and neighbors and her sweet dog Gabby. In addition to her husband and parents, Jessie was predeceased by her son, Rick Bourbeau.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Friday, March 31, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
