Neil W. Roussel, 82, of East Hartford, loving husband of 63 years of Constance “Connie” (Misseri) Roussel, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at a local rehabilita­tion center. Born in Hartford on July 16, 1940, a son of the late Sylvio L. and Loretta E. (Lefever) Roussel, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1965. Neil attended Hartford Public High School. Neil was a talented baker and was employed as the Head Baker for many years at Sage Allen in Hartford and later at Stop & Shop in East Hartford where he would finally retire from. Neil was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #19 in Hartford and a longtime member of the former B.P.O.E. Lodge #2063 in East Hartford. Neil enjoyed a fine bottle of wine, and playing cards especially with his neighbors on Saturday nights. He was very proud of his yard, gardens, and landscapin­g that he worked on by himself. He also was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and UConn Women's basketball team. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r who cherished his time with his entire family.

Along with his beloved wife Connie, Neil is survived by his daughter, Loretta “Lori” E. Chmielewsk­i of East Hartford; one granddaugh­ter, Danielle King and her husband Fran of Colorado Springs, CO. He also leaves four brothers-in-law, Salvatore Misseri of Florida, Michael Misseri and his wife Karen of Windsor, Frank Misseri and his wife Lia Stein of East Hartford, Joseph Misseri and his wife Paula of Berlin; many nieces, nephews, former customers, and dear friends.

Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenienc­e of the family at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. There are no calling hours. The D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangemen­ts.
