Lindor drives in 7 in Mets rout

-

Francisco Lindor hit a grand slam and three-run double to match his career high of seven RBIs, powering the New York Mets past the Athletics 17-6 on Friday night in Oakland, Calif.

The A’s walked an Oakland-record 17 batters, second-most in franchise history behind the 18 surrendered by the Philadelphia A’s in 1916.

The club hadn’t issued 16 walks since 1950.

Kodai Senga was done after 4 ⅔ innings, then Stephen Nogosek relieved and allowed one run on four hits with a pair of strikeouts in one inning before Dennis Santana (1-0) pitched 2 ⅓ innings for the win.

The Mets drew a pair of basesloaded walks among five free passes allowed by James Kaprielian (0-2) in the decisive second inning before Lindor connected for his sixth career grand slam and first since Sept. 20, 2022, at Milwaukee off Taylor Rogers.

Red Sox 5, Angels 3: At Boston, Rafael Devers hit his sixth homer of the season and the Red Sox took advantage of three Los Angeles errors.

Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon made two throwing errors, and the Red Sox scored two runs in the sixth inning without recording a hit to make it 5-2.

Aaron Loup opened the inning by hitting two batters, and one later scored on the second of Rendon’s miscues. Another run came in on a passed ball by catcher Logan O’Hoppe.

Devers’ homer off reliever Jimmy Herget (0-2) gave the Red Sox a 3-2 lead in the fifth.

Twins 4, Yankees 3: At New York, Carlos Correa homered for the second straight game and hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning off Clay Holmes as Minnesota rallied.

Correa homered in the sixth off Nestor Cortes and helped the Twins overcome a 3-2 deficit in the eighth, dealing the Yankees their first consecutive losses this season. After winning its first four series, New York can at best split four games against the Twins.

Anthony Volpe led off the game with his first big-league homer, and Aaron Judge hit his fifth of the season on the next pitch.
