Linnette Pearl Walker, 94, of Bloomfield, beloved wife of the late Felix Walker, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at her home. Born in Water Works, Westmoreland, Jamaica on July 3, 1928, daughter of the late Alfred and Princess Louise (Beckford) Murray, she was raised in Jamaica and migrated to the United States over 55 years ago, settling in Hartford. While living in Jamaica, Linnette was an entrepreneur, seamstress, and owned a grocery store. She loved caring for all the children in her neighborhood, regularly providing them with meals and a place to stay if needed. While she was very stern and strict, she was also very loving and kind to everyone who met her. Linnette was a huge proponent of education, discipline and respect, and constantly encouraged her children, nieces, and nephews to be the best that they could. After moving to the United States, Linnette worked as a housekeeper and then as a nurse's aid at Hughes Convalescent Home for over 40 years until her retirement.

Throughout her life, Linnette's central focus remained her faith and her family. She loved Jesus with all her heart and mind and had memorized many scriptures especially several from the Book of Psalms. She read her Bible everyday and prayed for all of her family and friends. Linnette became an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church and later attended Immanuel Congregational Church in Hartford after moving across the street. In recent years, after becoming homebound, Linnette enjoyed watching Pastor TD Jakes on TV. Her positive attitude translated into everything she did. She wanted everyone to be happy and well, and regularly told others how proud she was of the people in her life. Birthdays were an opportunity for her to share her love with others. She regularly called people on their birthdays and sang to them adding, “May the Good Lord Bless You” to the tune of Happy Birthday.

In her spare time, Linnette enjoyed cooking and her family often referred to her as the best cook in the world!! She was well-known for her West Indian specialties, escovitch fish, curry goat, stew chicken, and her desserts. She also enjoyed sewing, exercising, gardening, and going for walks. She loved keeping up with current events, the UCONN Huskies men and women's teams, and watched the CBS Morning Show and The View daily.
