Ciccio, Joseph Carl

-

Joseph Carl Ciccio, 90 of Plainville, beloved husband of Rose (Mancini) Ciccio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Born and raised in Plainville, Joe was one of two sons to the late Carmelo and Florence (Damiano) Ciccio. A 1951 graduate of Plainville High School, Joe married his high school sweetheart, Rose, in 1954, sharing together 68 years of love and life adventures. A member of the Knights of Columbus Gerald T. Corrigan Council, Joe and Rose were lifelong communicants, volunteers and supporters of Our Lady of Mercy Church. A lover of animals and raised on the farm where Ciccio Court now stands, Joe learned the construction trade from a young age. The self-taught builder of chicken coops, he expanded his abilities to custom homes and commercial properties as the owner/operator of Ciccio Homes for more than 50 years. With his famous Yorkie, “Taffy” by his side, he successfully developed much of his hometown, including his family's residence, the homes on Ciccio Ct., Rosanne La., and Norton Trail; along with many other notable projects, with his final design being his daughter, Rosanne's home. Additionally, he sponsored and played for the Ciccio Homes championship winning slow pitch softball team. A proud girl Dad, he built a farm of his own at his home on Mancini Way, and proudly supported his daughter's equestrian talents, traveling to horse shows and competitions throughout the U.S. One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather, sharing a special and unbreakable bond with his only granddaughter, Olivia. An outdoors enthusiast, he enjoyed the sport of hunting, taking fishing trips to 30 Mile Lake in Canada, and wintered in Florida with Rose for more than 30 years. While at home, his man-cave was where he was happiest; hosting family and friends, cooking, making wine, breaking bread, raising a glass and solving the world's problems. Humble but highly influential, Joe touched the lives of many and lived his 90 years to their fullest. He will be missed dearly, leaving a lasting legacy of hard work, kindness and love.

In addition to his wife, Rose, he leaves his daughter Rosanne Ciccio and her partner, Kevin Hughes; his adored granddaughter, Olivia Santostefano; many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and business associates. He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen Ciccio.

In lieu of flowers, Joe may be remembered with contributions to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 19 S. Canal St, Plainville.

Joe's family would like to thank the staff at Hartford Hospital for the wonderful care he was given during his brief stay with them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St, Plainville.
