He became Board Certified in Radiation Oncology in 1996. Eric was affiliated with St. Francis Hospital for more than 25 years and was the Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology since 2008.

Eric cared deeply for his patients for 28 years. His gentle touch was loved by all around him.

Eric is survived by his parents, Marie-Claire and JeanPierre van Rooy, his sister Ann and her husband Eric Brodsky, their children Olivia and her husband Will Eusden, and their children Teddy and Sophie; Jack and his wife Samantha Brodsky and their daughter Scarlett; his sister Martine Webber and her son Ian; his godchildren Jared and his wife Kristin Scroggins, Kacey and her husband Brad Weems, Jesse Scroggins, their mother Karen Scroggins, and Mike and his wife Becca Alaimo. Eric was a kind, sensitive and generous person and was loved by all. He loved art and had a passion for beautiful things. Eric's favorite time was spent in the garden. He also enjoyed hiking and was an avid reader.

Eric loved being surrounded by family. The way he battled cancer showed us what strength is, and this left a lasting impression.
