Gagnon, Joseph R.
Joseph R. Gagnon, 84, formerly of Newington, CT, passed peacefully at home in Zephyrhills, FL, on April 17, 2023. Joe was born August 12,1938 to Arthur W. Gagnon and Anne Bosse Gagnon in Kittery, ME. In 1958, Joe married the love of his life Mary (Bottorff) and together they built a wonderful life together. Joe loved to share his fond memories of growing-up in Maine; reminiscing about his childhood and sharing stories with his children and grandchildren brought him much joy. He was a master carpenter, could build anything and worked diligently on his home and in his yard in Newington. He was an amazing pianist, could play any requested song "by ear" and had even recorded his playing on vinyl when he was a child. Music (especially jazz standards and Michael Buble) was a huge part of his daily life as he joyfully sang his way through most of his later days. Employed for many years as a Sales Engineer for CHR America (TILCON), Joe put his wonderful skills to use guiding construction crews who paved many of Connecticut's roads and highways. He was a dedicated employee and took great pride in his work. His retirement brought him from Newington to Florida where he spent his days soaking in the warm weather and sunshine! Joe was predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter Lauren Gagnon. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Mary, his three sons Willam Gagnon and his wife Kirsten of Newington, CT, Timothy Gagnon and his wife Jerilyn of Newport, RI, David Gagnon and his wife Erin of New Britain, CT, and his grandchildren: Hillary, Troy, Seth, August, Amanda, Sophia and Sabrina, as well as his brother Arthur Gagnon of Sun City, AZ, and two sisters Joan Martin West Hartford, CT, & Ruth Doucette of Newington, CT, all of whom will miss him dearly. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., West Meadow Cemetery, Newington, and all who knew Joe are welcome to attend. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association would be most appreciated.
