Janton, Susan T.

Susan Therese Janton was a caring mother, sister, wife and friend. She left this world suddenly on April 18, 2023 at age 53.

Susan Therese was born to Carl Rossow and Rachel Wheeler-Rossow on January 3, 1970. She grew up as part of a large and loving family in Ellington, Connecticut. Susan went on to marry David Janton and created 4 wonderful children that she leaves behind: Christopher John and his wife Molly, Jessica Leila, Lauren Therese and Abigale Rae. Susan also leaves behind her father Carl and his wife Debbie; siblings Robert and his wife Stacey, Roy, Michael, Aaron, Rachel Marie and her husband Patrick, Elizabeth and her wife Tiffany and Christa Lee; and her beloved nieces and nephews. Susan was predeceased by her loving mother Rachel and siblings Christopher, Simone, Benjamin, Maria, Mary, Ellen, Dina, Eddy, David, Patrick, Joseph, Jose-Luis and Charlie.

Susan graduated from UCONN with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992 and went on to attain her Masters in microbiology. She was a skilled lab technician at UCONN for many years.

Most of all, Susan loved spending time with her family and friends, and helped many of her siblings lead happier lives. She loved hosting get togethers and everyone knew they were welcome at the Janton home, which was filled with country music, Kid Rock, Helen Reddy, and laughter.

Susan was an accomplished marathon runner, and was the inspiration for her children and siblings to continue the Turkey Day Trot tradition for many years. She successfully completed the Boston Marathon multiple times.

Susan brought not only joy to her family and friends but also excitement and adrenaline in the many ski trips and rite-of-passage parachute jumps over the years. Susan loved living life.

Susan had a wonderful smile and infectious laugh that would turn heads and brighten any room. She had a mind for numbers and enjoyed puzzles and chess. She was an advocate for those in need. Susan was kind and will be deeply missed.

A wake is scheduled from 4:00-8:00 pm on May 5th, at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home in Tolland, CT. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on May 6, at the St. Matthew Church in Tolland.
