DeCarli, Luciana M.

Luciana “Lucy” DeCarli, 91, of Enfield, formerly of Ellington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family & friends on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Luciana was born on February 18, 1932, in Pedavena, Italy in the Province of Belluno in the Veneto Region. She was the daughter of the late Angelo and Angela DeCarli. At the age of three, Luciana and her mother sailed to America to join her father in Rockville, CT.

Luciana graduated from Rockville High School in 1950, and after graduating from the University of Connecticut was a teacher for several years at Lewis Fox Middle School in Hartford. While at Lewis Fox Middle School, she along with her students earned several awards in the Creative Arts. Luciana enjoyed her travels to her birthplace in Italy. She was an avid singer and in her earlier years was a member of the Maple Grove Singers in Rockville. Luciana was an avid reader and she enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Luciana is survived by her brother, Tony (Ruth) DeCarli of Floral Park, NY, sisters Mary Bonaccorsi and Linda DeCarli both of Florida. Her nieces and nephews whom she loved very much: Antonio DeCarli, Diana Melton, Marco Bonaccorsi, Melanie Szabo, Rocco D'Amato and Christopher D'Amato who were Luciana's caregivers. Other caregivers that her family would like to thank are Boguslawa and Laura for their compassionate and loving care over the last two years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Luke Church, 141 Maple Street in Ellington, CT 06029 on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
