Eleanor Darelius McCallum, 101 years young, of North Haven was welcomed into heaven on 4-24-23 where she joined her husband of 62 years, John P. McCallum, and daughter Joanne Fisher. Born Jan 18, 1922 in Providence, R.I. to Hulda and Carl "Sam" Darelius, the fourth of six children: Charles, Roderick, Regina, Eleanor, Conrad and Carolyn. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Lorenson of Cromwell.

She graduated from Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a public health nurse until she married. She raised six daughters, Marjorie (Craig) Nordeen, Sandra (Brian) Schoonmake­r, Marcia (Manuel) Vital, Jill McCallum, Joanne (Tom) Fisher, and Jayne (Daniel) Blanchette. She enjoyed two grandsons, James and Andrew (Tina) Vital, and three great grandchild­ren Tristan, Avery James and Lilly Vital.

She worked at Manchester Memorial Hospital for 20 years caring for newborns as a night supervisor nurse. She loved to play Scrabble and do crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She cheered for the Red Sox and the UCONN women's basketball teams. She enjoyed playing her piano, family parties, coffee ice cream and the beach. She liked playing croquet and badminton.

She will be missed by her large, extended fun-loving family. A private memorial service will be held at the convenienc­e of her family. In lieu of flowers, a contributi­on to a charity of your choice or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, p.o. box 1510 Ranson, WV 25438 would be appreciate­d.
