Antoinette Marie (Mastergeor­ge) Clayton, 98, passed away January 7, 2024. A life-long resident of Middletown, she was born August 24, 1925, the youngest child of Michael and Nicola (Sharrie) Mastergeor­ge and wife to the late Robert Clayton.

In 1945, Antoinette married Bob, her husband of 67 years. They had their home built on Mile Lane where they hosted family picnics for several decades.

She was employed at EIS Brake Parts in Middletown for 26 years and was a member of St. John’s Parish in Middletown. She was active in the Middletown Senior Center, where in 2017 she was recognized as the Senior of the Year. In the 1950s, she was a Cub Scout leader with the St. John’s Pack 10 and was awarded the Bronze Pelican Award.

She was predecease­d by her parents and husband as well as an infant son, Michael William Clayton; a grandson, Christophe­r James Clayton; a sister, Angela Italia; three brothers and their wives, Domenic & Margaret Mastergeor­ge, Ralph & Mary Mastergeor­ge, and Frank & Ann Mastergeor­ge.

Antoinette is survived by two sons and daughtersi­n-law, Thomas & Nancy (Going) Clayton and Robert & Katherine (Drajewicz) Clayton; a grandson, Michael Clayton; and granddaugh­ter, Alice (Clayton) Straight and her husband Brian and two great-grandchild­ren Nicola Straight and James Straight. She was the beloved Aunt Tenette to three generation­s of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Wadsworth Glen, Athena Home Care, and Middlesex Home Hospice for their care of Toni in the final months of her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Church, 19 St. John’s Square, Middletown, on January 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Calling hours will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on January 16, 2024, at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.
