A gentle man and a true gentleman, Lindsey Pinkham, 68, of Simsbury, CT, passed on April 5, 2024, due to complications from an accident. Lindsey was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, brother and uncle. He was surrounded by the love of his family when he passed.
Born in Brockton, MA, to Charles and Lynn Pinkham, Lindsey graduated from Canton High School in Canton, MA, before receiving his BA in Sociology at Keene State College. His freshman year, he met Deb, his wife of 47 years, and they married upon graduation. They moved to Simsbury in 1979, raising their two boys there, and have called it home ever since.
Family was most important to Lindsey, and he took pride in creating spaces where the family could gather. He was happy simply sitting on his front porch with Deb or relaxing at the firepit and often surrounded by the love of his sons, their wives, and five grandchildren who live close by. Considered patient, industrious, and generous, Lindsey loved taking care of his home and yard and participating in his community. For many years, he and Deb enjoyed their involvement with friends on a local coed softball team, which became a second family. More recently, he enjoyed annual vacations to Cape Cod, watching his grandchildren play on the beach, visiting the local café for breakfast, and spending time with family.
Lindsey began his 38-year career in banking in 1981 in what would become the Connecticut Bankers Association (CBA). He held positions of increased responsibility and was named President and CEO in 2012. In that role, Lindsey was proud to serve as the voice of the banking industry, both in Connecticut and Washington, DC. He was committed to furthering his own knowledge, graduating first from the Connecticut School of Banking and Finance and later from the prestigious National School of Banking at Fairfield University. Lindsey was especially proud of his role as Dean of the CBA's Connecticut School of Finance and Management, which graduated more than one thousand bankers during his tenure.
Lindsey exemplified steadfast commitment and leadership. He spearheaded the creation of the Center for Financial Training (CFT), which grew into a nationwide training institution for the banking industry. He served on CFT's Board of Directors for over 30 years, including a recent tenure as Chair. Lindsey's wealth of business knowledge, combined with a genuine passion for empowering others to succeed, led many bankers to rely on him as a trusted advisor. His legacy of service was an inspiration to all who worked alongside him. During his long and successful career at the CBA and in the banking industry, Lindsey was known to multiple generations of bankers as a mentor, colleague, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Deb Pinkham; his brother, Chris Pinkham (and wife Deb) of Freeport, ME; his son Matthew (and wife Katie) of Simsbury, CT; his son David (and wife Kelly) of Canton, CT; his nieces and nephews Samantha, Emilie, Alec, and Ben; and his five grandchildren, Heidi, Jack, Britta, Brooke, and Michael. A private family celebration of life will be held in lieu of a service.
In his retirement, Lindsey served as the Vice President of the Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association (SVAA), and it was important to him that Simsbury continue to run this critical volunteer organization.
