Maryland ousts UConn in NCAA field hockey

No. 2 Maryland ended defending champion UConn’s season Sunday with a 2-1 overtime victory in the second round of the NCAA field hockey tournament in College Park, Md. Freshman Abby Gooderham scored off a penalty corner at 23:35 for the fifth-ranked Huskies (19-4). Maryland (20-2) tied it two minutes later.
