Easton man charged with sexual assault against two juveniles

- By Zach Murdock

Easton police seized a dozen firearms and a “large amount of evidence” from the home of a man accused of sexually assaulting two underage victims earlier this month.

Robert McGuire, 40, was arrested Friday at his Adams Road home and charged with two counts each of first-degree sexual assault and illegal sexual contact and one count of risk of injury to a minor.

Investigators were first alerted to the alleged abuse when two victims were admitted July 1 to Yale New Haven Hospital for “signs of sexual abuse and trauma,” police said. Police have not released the age or sex of the victims.

Both victims were interviewed Thursday with the help of staff at the Family justice

Center in Bridgeport, which led police to obtain arrest and search warrants for McGuire and his home, police said.

McGuire was taken into custody while investigators discovered a “large amount of evidence,” 12 firearms and a large amount of ammunition, police said.

Investigators did not provide further details about the nature of the evidence recovered but police said it is being examined by the Technical Investigations Unit. Officers from Darien, Weston, Westport and Wilton all aided in the investigation.

McGuire remained in custody on $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
