Goodbye Continental

-

Lincoln has confirmed that it will end Continental sedan production at the end of this model year. The Continental thus joins the Lincoln MKZ sedan, which will also be discontinued shortly. This means that Lincoln in coming years will offer only crossover and sport utility vehicles. In its official statement, Lincoln officials wrote, “Lincoln is investing in growth segments and the brand will feature a full portfolio of SUVs, including a fully electric vehicle in the future. Lincoln will continue to keep its newest SUVs fresh and we will have more news to share later this year; however, as the full-size premium sedan segment continues to decline in the U.S., we plan to end production of the Lincoln Continental at the end of this year.” The current Continental was introduced in 2016 for the 2017 model year. It served as the brand’s flagship sedan.
