49ers 31, Jets 1 3: Injury-ravaged Niners embarrass Gang Green in New York’s home opener.

SEATTLE — Patriots running back James White’s father, Tyrone, was killed in an automobile accident in South Florida on Sunday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Globe.

White’s mother, Lisa, was reportedly also in the car and is in critical condition.

Tyrone White was a captain with the MiamiDade Police Department.

White was informed of the accident and was inactive for Sunday night’s game against the Seahawks, which wasn’t over at press time.

APatriots captain and one of the most popular players on the team, White is one of the best receiving backs in the league.

Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and assistant coach Troy Brown huddled with running backs Sony Michel, Rex Burkhead and J.J. Taylor in what appeared to be a very emotional moment.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson had a message of support for White before the game, tweeting, “Praying for you bro.”

It’s been a tragic week for the Patriots family, with the death of coach Bill Belichick’s mother, Jeannette, last Monday and Belichick’s longtime girlfriend, Linda Holliday, losing her father, days later.

Besides White, also inactive for the Patriots:

Rookie linebacker Josh Uche was ruled out earlier in the week with an ankle issue and was inactive for the second straight week.

Offensive tackle Korey Cunningham was also inactive for the second consecutive week. He wasn’t on the injury report during the week, so we’ll assume that it’s a personnel question, as well as a nod to how well Jermaine Eluemunor and Isaiah Wynn played last week against the Dolphins.

Defensive back Myles Bryant also appeared to be a healthy scratch.

Quarterback Jarrett Stidham wasn’t on the injury report during the week, but he was inactive once again. That left Brian Hoyer as the No. 2 quarterback for the second consecutive week.

Dalton Keene, who was limited Friday with a neck issue, also missed his second consecutive game, clearing the way for more snaps for the likes of fellow rookie tight end Devin Asiasi.

New England did have all three of its wide receivers that were listed as questionable active for the game.
