All Jets negative after coronaviru­s test scare

All Jets players and coaches have tested negative for COVID-19, and Sunday’s game against the Cardinals will be played on time.

The Jets posted a statement on social media Friday night, hours after their training facility was closed due to a presumptiv­e positive coronaviru­s test for one player.

“This evening, we received negative PCR COVID-19 test results for all players, coaches and personnel,” the team said. “Following a presumptiv­e positive COVID-19 test and out of an abundance of caution to ensure everyone’s health and safety, we sent all players and personnel home this morning. We also initiated all NFL mandated protocols including player isolation, subsequent testing, and contact tracing.”

■ Jimmy Garoppolo will return as starting QB for the 49ers this week after missing the past two games with a sprained ankle. ... The Chargers placed RB Austin Ekeler on injured reserve. Ekeler was injured during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers. ... WRJulio Jones was held out of practice for the third straight day with a hamstring injury but has not been ruled out for the Falcons’ game against the Panthers. ... Bears LG James Daniels is done for the season after tearing his pectoral muscle in Thursday’s 20-19 victory over the Buccaneers, NFL Network reported.

Colleges: Wichita State is conducting an internal investigat­ion into allegation­s that men’s basketball coach Gregg Marshall mistreated players. Stadium, a multiplatf­orm sports network, said the inquiry began after the university learned it was conducting an investigat­ion in which it interviewe­d 36 players and former coaches. Former Wichita State F Shaq Morris told Stadium he was punched twice by Marshall, the school’s all-time winningest coach, during an October 2015 practice.

Golf: Patrick Cantlay ran off four straight birdies at the midway point of his round and got up-and-down from a bunker on the par-5 ninth to cap off a 6-under 65 and be part of a five-way for the lead going into the weekend at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas. Martin Laird hit his second shot into 4 feet for eagle on his closing hole at the ninth for a 63. Peter Malnati, runner-up last week in Mississipp­i, made a 15-footer for eagle from the fringe on No. 9 to close out his 62. They joined Cantlay at 14-under 128, along with Brian Harman (63) and Austin Cook (65). ... Sei Young Kim birdied five of the final six holes as darkness fell at Aronimink for a 5-under 65 and the second-round lead in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championsh­ip. Jennifer Kupcho (65), Danielle Kang (69), Carlota Ciganda (69) and Anna Nordqvist (68) were a stroke back. ... Despite a double-bogey on 18, Matt Fitzpatric­k shot a 7-under 65, leaving him tied for the lead with Shane Lowry (65) at 12-under overall at the BMWPGA Championsh­ip in Virginia Water, England.

NHL: CPaul Stastny is returning to the Jets after DCarl Dahlstrom was traded to the Golden Knights. ... G Henrik Lundqvist signed a one-year deal with the Capitals. ... The Wild trading G Devan Dubnyk to the Sharks and signed G Cam Talbot to a three-year, $11 million deal. ... F Wayne Simmonds signed a one-year $1.5 million deal with the Maple Leafs. ... The Blackhawks agreed to sign rookie of the year finalist Dominik Kubalik to a two-year, $7.4 million extension.
