Veteran reporter returns to ‘Face the State’
Veteran reporter Duby McDowell, who hosted WFSB’s popular Sunday morning politics program
“Face the State” for seven years, is returning to the airwaves.
McDowell joins Courant columnist Kevin Rennie on Ch. 3, where she served as political reporter for 12 years beginning in 1993.
“This is a crucial time in the state and the nation,” McDowell said, in a news release. “I’m excited to return to Face the State and work with Kevin Rennie, who I frequently interviewed when he was a State Senator and I was a WFSB reporter. It’s great to be on the same team.”
WFSB-TV vice president and general manager Dana Neves said McDowell has “covered some of the biggest political stories in Connecticut,” adding she was “delighted to welcome her back to the show that she helped start. ... When I think of Connecticut politics, I think of Duby and Kevin.”
McDowell, a Hartford resident and a graduate of Harvard University, runs McDowell Communications Group and publishes “The Laurel,” which covers Connecticut news media.
Rennie is a former Republican legislator who practices law in South Windsor. He writes a political column for the Courant’s opinion pages.
“I am delighted to join Connecticut’s premier public affairs program as co-host with Duby McDowell,” Rennie said. “Face the State will continue to provide a window to viewers on how Connecticut works by questioning and challenging guests. Its public service mission is more important than ever in this fraught age.”
