Courant got it right on endorsement Veteran against President Trump
Kudos to The Courant for its courageous endorsement of Joe
Biden. I say “courageous” because the endorsement, which is sure to offend some, points out that if one supports a candidate with racists views and a racist reelection strategy, then you’re supporting racism. It’s as logical as it is obvious.
People didn’t support George Wallace because of his views on monetary policy, and they don’t fly Trump flags because of his trade policies. Racism is the straw that stirs the drink in Trumpworld.
When I hear voters attempt to justify voting for Trump because of this or that, I’m reminded of the old joke about guys who claimed to buy Playboy for the articles.

I take issue with Kevin Groenhagen’s condemnation of The Courant [Section 3, Page 2, Oct. 25, “Veterans for Trump”] and his assertion that all/most veterans support Trump.
As a veteran who served from 1967 to 1994, I am opposed to the reelection of Donald J. Trump and I am not alone. Veterans who have served with far more distinction than I (Mattis, Kelly, McMaster, McRaven, McCain) expressed opposition to perpetuating this administration any longer.
Among those of us who do not wish to be included in Groenhagen’s gross generalization are many rank-and-file veterans who have collectively been called “losers and suckers” for
having served while our accuser hid from military service behind a fabricated medical deferment of bone spurs, while thousands of the veterans he disparages seek treatment in the amputation wards of veterans hospitals around this nation.
