Arline Louise Doxsee Herriott, of Farmington, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the age of 91. She is survived by her son Arnold Jay Grant and his wife Eileen C. Grant of Madison, by her son Robert William Grant and his life partner Christine Hart of Kalispell, Montana, her granddaugh­ters Samantha Jane Chapman of Moodus, and Elizabeth Alexandra Henault of West Hartford, and by her great grandsons Brody Chapman and Jason Johansen. Arline is survived by her brothers Irwin Doxsee (Emma Doxsee) of Toronto, Canada and Lawrence Doxsee (Lorraine Sorensen) of San Francisco and by nephews and nieces and grandnephe­ws and grandniece­s. Arline was predecease­d by her beloved daughter Debra Jane Grant Henault and by her sister Eleanor Doxsee Britton (Gordon R. Britton) of Rochester, NY.

Arline was born to Morley Irwin Doxsee and Ella Alexandra Mills McConkey August 3, 1929 in Hartford, CT. Arline was a graduate of The Chaffee School and Wellesley College. She earned a Masters in Library Science and for many years served as Head Cataloger at the Raymond Library, East Hartford.

Arline treasured her friends many of whom she had known for decades. She was active in alumni organizati­ons and book clubs. Arline especially enjoyed hosting dinners, luncheon parties and holiday celebratio­ns. She loved live cultural performanc­es and was a regular audience member at Hartford Stage, Goodspeed Opera House, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood, and other venues. A lifelong swimmer and sailor, Arline was eager to join any water oriented activity. She was a skier and tennis player in her younger years and practiced yoga through her late 80's.

Arline traveled widely with family and friends, visiting Great Britain, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Canada and many states in our country. She relished each and every voyage but especially loved her trip to Kenya.

The family wishes to thank her dedicated compassion­ate care givers who made it possible for her to remain at home until her passing. Special thanks are due to Magda Maura who treated her with steadfast and tender attention. We are grateful for the thoughtful care and guidance provided by Dr. Jonathan Tress. No memorial events are currently scheduled. A celebratio­n of life will be organized in the future.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Friends of Connecticu­t State Parks or The World Wildlife Fund.
