New London woman charged in 4-year-old son’s death.
New London police are investigating the death of a 4-yearold boy after the child’s mother allegedly told officers that she hurt her son.
Tiffany Farrauto, 33, of New London was arrested on a warrant
Sunday afternoon. She was charged with murder and risk of injury to a minor and is being held on $1 million bond.
Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 242 Nautilus Drive just before 6:30 Sunday morning after receiving a report of a woman damaging a vehicle with a baseball bat.
While officers spoke with the vehicle’s owner, the woman approached and told police she had hurt her son, according to a press release sent by Capt.
Brian M. Wright, commander of the department’s investigative services division.
Police went to the woman’s apartment and found an unconscious and unresponsive 4-yearold boy, Wright’s press release stated.
Officers began CPR, and the child was taken by the New London Fire Department to L+M Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Mayor Michael Passero reflected on the tragedy and expressed his condolences to the boy’s family.
“As our city mourns the tragic death of a child, we express our sympathy to the family & wish comfort to all who mourn,” Passero said on Twitter. “Special word of consolation & gratitude to first responders (our police, firefighters, paramedics) for their heroic efforts to save a precious young life.”
