Weir, Frances D. (DeVito)
Frances ( DeVito) Weir, 85 of East Hartford CT, passed away peacefully, on February 25, 2021 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
“Fran or Franny,” as she was known to all her friends and family was t he daughter of the l ate Frank and Catherine ( Datro) DeVito of Hartford, CT. She attended l ocal schools and graduated from Bulkeley High School i n Hartford. Fran i s predeceased by her l oving husband Robert E. Weir and brother Carmen DeVito. She i s survived by her sister Mary Ann Pellerin of Palm Bay, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.
After graduation she held several j obs before settling in on a career in the banking industry. She would hold several titles and would ultimately end her career i n banking as an account manager. Her coworkers would jokingly say that Fran would often be heard saying “I'm leaving i n 3 minutes is i t snowing yet”. Fran l oved to bake especially for her favorite holiday which was Christmas. I n keeping with t r ue I t ali an t radition she would bake her mother's favorite cookie recipes much t o everyone's delight. The most favorite of all her cookie classics was t he i t ali an pizzelle always heavily f l avored with anise and dusted with j ust a touch of powdered sugar. Another highly sought after delight was her absolutely delicious banana bread. Fran's other interests included crafting, crocheting, puzzles, UConn women's basketball and l et's not f orget t he monthly t r i ps her and Bob would make to Foxwoods Casino to make their annual deposit. Dining out can also be added to her l i st of f avorite t hings t o do although i t was difficult f or any chef to come up with a dish that would meet the high standards of Frans delicate palate. Fran and Bob enjoyed traveling together especially to Kennebunkport and Ogunquit Maine.
The family wishes to thank the visiting nurses at Home Hospice. We would also l i ke t o send a special t hank you t o Fran's live i n aide Yvonne for her warm and compassionate care.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
