UConn football adds future games with Ole Miss
Huskies to face SEC foe in home-and-home series in 2027, 2028
As it prepares for its first season as an independent program, UConn football is continuing to fill out its future schedule. The Huskies announced Thursday they’ll play a home-and-home series with Ole Miss in 2027 and 2028, and play a home game against in-state foe Sacred Heart in 2023.
Additionally, they’ll play Liberty University twice, in 2022 and 2025.
Ole Miss will play the Huskies at Rentschler Stadium on Sept. 11, 2027, and UConn will travel to Mississippi on Nov. 18, 2028. The two programs have never played each other.
The 2022 game against Liberty will be a home contest for UConn on Nov. 12, while the 2025 game will be at Liberty on Nov. 15. The home game against Sacred Heart does not have a date yet and will be determined by UConn “no later” than Jan. 1, 2022.
The Huskies, who opted out of the 2020 season, are now into their second week of spring ball. They’ll kick their season of Aug. 28 at Fresno State. Here’s the full 2021 schedule:

Women’s basketball
Fairfield 51, Manhattan 40: At Atlantic City, N.J., the Stags jumped out to an 11-point lead at the half and advanced to the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament. Fourth-seeded Fairfield (11-4, 9-3) was led by Lou Lopez-Senechal’s 21 points. Sam Lewis added 11 and Katie Armstrong had 11 rebounds. Fairfield plays top seed Mar is ton Friday at 11 a.m.
Men’s basketball
Late Wednesday: At Atlantic City, N.J., Taj Benning had a career-high 24 points plus 12 rebounds as No. 7 seed Fairfield upset second-seeded Monmouth 79-60 in the quarterfinals of the Metro Atlantic Conference Tourney on Wednesday night.
Jake Wojcik had 12 points for Fairfield (9-16). Caleb Green added 12 points. Supreme Cook had 11 points and 14 rebounds. The Stags play third-seeded Saint Peter’s or No. 11 seed Rider in the semifinals Friday.
Both teams set season records for scoring during the game. Fairfield scored 41 first-half points, a season high for Fairfield, while the 26 points in the second half for Monmouth were the fewest of the season for Monmouth.
