-

Veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis is staying with the Packers. General manager Brian Gutekunst announced Tuesday the team has re-signed both Lewis and defensive end Tyler Lancaster.

The 36-year-old Lewis has spent the past three seasons in Green Bay after playing 12 seasons with the Jaguars, whoselected him out of UCLA in the first round of the 2006 draft. He reached the Pro Bowl in Jacksonville in 2010 and is one of only seven tight ends in NFL history to play in at least 200 regular-season games and catch at least 400 passes.

Lewis caught 10 passes for 107 yards and three touchdowns while starting 15 games last season and operating primarily as the Packers’ blocking tight end.

The 49ers signed WR Mohamed Sanu for a second stint with the team. The team said they reached a one-year deal with Sanu, who played three games for the 49ers last season with one catch for nine yards. Sanu was originally drafted by the Bengals in the third round of the 2012 draft. Baseball: White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez was having surgery Tuesday to repair a ruptured left pectoral tendon, and general manager Rick Hahn said the slugger still is expected to miss five to six months. Hahn said the timeline hasn’t changed, though he left the door open for Jimenez to return sooner. Jimenez was hurt last week in a spring game against the Athletics when he tried to make a leaping catch at the wall.

College basketball: Florida F Omar Payne entered the transfer portal Tuesday and became the fifth player to leave coach Mike White’s program since the end of the season. The 6-foot-10 Payne joined SG Noah Locke, backup PG Ques Glover and reserve F Osayi Osifo in looking to play elsewhere next season. Payne, a sophomore from Kissimmee, averaged 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds while playing close to 16 minutes a game. ... Taking advantage of an NCAApandemic-era rule allowing athletes an additional year of eligibility, Duke F Patrick Tapé is exploring playing another season elsewhere. He played in 10 games, with one start, for Duke (13-11) as he was slowed in the middle portion of the season by a back ailment. ... After Syracuse was eliminated by Houston in the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament, Orange coach Jim Boeheim said he expected players to leave the program. He was spot on.
