Richard A. “Dick” Payette, 83, of Windsor Locks, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Parkway Pavilion. Born in Pawtucket, RI on June 8, 1937, he was the son of the l ate Armand and Cecile ( Collins) Payette. He married t he l ove of his l i f e, Wilma Vaillancou­rt in 1960 and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage before her passing i n 2020. Dick worked for Combustion Engineerin­g for 20 years before working for Hamilton Standard for 26 years, retiring i n 1999. Dick was i n the US Army Reserves for many years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He sang songs for the musical groups, "The Locks People" and "Cooks Tour" for many years at nearby convalesce­nt homes. He was also one of the founding members of the Windsor Locks bike club and made a 100 mile bike ride i n the 1960's. Dick and his wife Wilma were devout Catholics and faithful parishione­rs of St. Mary Church where Dick served as a Eucharisti­c Minister. He was very active at St. Gerard Center f or Life i n Hartford and was proudly pro- l i f e. A loving husband, devoted father and grandfathe­r, brother and friend, he will be missed by so many family and friends. Besides his wife Wilma, he was predecease­d by his son, Michael Payette, and his brother Arthur Payette. He l eaves 3 children, Mark Payette of Windsor Locks, Matthew Payette of Plainville and Monique Hebert and her husband, Mark of Enfield; two grandchild­ren, Nicole Bulman and her husband, Evan of Enfield and Corey Payette of Enfield. His f amily will r eceive f r i ends on Thursday, April 8, f r om 4- 6 PM at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St. Windsor Locks. His Funeral will t ake place on Friday, April 9, beginning at 9 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
