UConn adds FAU to ’24, ’26 schedules
UConn football will play Florida Atlantic in 2024 and 2026, the program announced Tuesday.
The Huskies will host the Owls on Sept. 21, 2024 at Rentschler Stadium and will travel to Boca Raton, Florida for the 2026 matchup on Nov. 21, 2026. The two teams have played just once before — a 61-14 UConn win in 2002.
UConn now has seven games scheduled in 2024: Home games against Army, Florida Atlantic, Buffalo, Temple and Georgia State, and two road games against Maryland and Duke. In 2026, the Huskies are currently scheduled to play at North Carolina, Syracuse, Temple and FAU, and home against Lafayette and Maryland.
The Huskies ended their spring season early last week after a positive COVID-19 test within the program. UConn held 12 of a possible 15 practices and will reconvene in the summer.
“The big thing is now the players really understand the playbook,” Edsall said last week. “They understand the things they need to continue to work on here in these next four months before we get back together at the end of July. ... I’m going to meet with them when they come back June 1. ... They’re going to meet with their position coaches virtually ... between [strength and conditioning coach] Matt King and the assistant coaches, they’re telling them exactly what they need to do.
